| Notes for Fannie (aka; Frances, Dot) Renike |
From Robyn Jeffrey: Nan would never talk about her father. She said he was a terrible man, a drinker with a violent temper who treated her mother very badly. He left the family when she was in her early teens and she only had bad memories of him, so refused to talk about him.
Nan actually turned 94 today (16 October 2005). She is suffering from dementia, but today was a good day. She enjoyed her party, and knew who we were. Some days she is not so good. Physically she is very good for her age - just a bit unsteady on her feet. Her father died at 96, so she has good genes.
Kerry remembers: Nanna's (Vera) sister Rene (Irene) wanted her to visit Frederic in the nursing home when he was ill or dieing and my Grandmother wouldn't go. Said her mother (Frederic's sister Caroline) would have nothing to do with him and so she wouldn't either. We figured he must have been a difficult man, probably a drinker.
