From Robyn Jeffrey: Nan (christened Fanny, but always hated the name, so would only answer to Frances or Dot) would never talk about her father. She said he was a terrible man, a drinker with a violent temper who treated her mother very badly. He left the family when she was in her early teens and she only had bad memories of him, so refused to talk about him. Kerry remembers: Nanna's (Vera) sister Rene (Irene) wanted her to visit Frederic in the nursing home when he was ill or dieing and my Grandmother wouldn't go. Said her mother (Frederic's sister Caroline) would have nothing to do with him and so she wouldn't either.
